Welcome, Fall!

An Autumn Evening
by L. M. Montgomery (author of Anne of Green Gables)

Dark hills against a hollow crocus sky...
Scarfed with its crimson pennons, and below
The dome of sunset long, hushed valleys lie
Cradling the twilight, where the lone winds blow
And wake among the harps of leafless trees
Fantastic runes and mournful melodies.

The chilly purple air is threaded through
With silver from the rising moon afar,
And from a gulf of clear, unfathomed blue
In the southwest glimmers a great gold star
Above the darkening druid glens of fir
Where beckoning boughs and elfin voices stir.
And so I wander through the shadows still,
And look and listen with a rapt delight,
Pausing again and yet again at will
To drink the elusive beauty of the night,
Until my soul is filled, as some deep cup,
That with divine enchantment is brimmed up.

  3. Hi Tammy,
Thanks so much for your visit and your sweet comments.
I absolutely adore Anne of Green Gables. Never saw the series until I was an adult, and I have an English friend who kept telling me about how wonderful it was.......so finally, we got to watch
the series and hubby and I both loved it, such a precious story
of victory and love. I have not read the series, but sure love
this lovely writing by the author.........so wonderfully descriptive.......
    Happy Fall.......
    Blessings, Nellie

  4. Hello Tammy, In answer to your comment on my thrifty week.
Yes, giving things away is absolutely thrifty. It's real estate investment! Enjoy 3rd grade, it's an awesome age.

Thanks for "talking back" at Harvest Lane Cottage. Do you know that your comments come through to my email as a "no reply blogger"? If you'd like to get direct responses to your comments more often, you might like to know how to change that. I wrote about it in this blog post.

If you're like me, you don't have time to go back and check on other blogs to see if you've gotten a response to your comment. I sometimes can take time to track down commenters, but I'm usually short on time.
