In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary tradgedy (for which our prayers storm Heaven), opinions are flying hard and fast.

How to prevent this, new laws, ban this, ban that, guns for all.  The list is endless, and tempers are rising.  I'm not joining that fight, because there's a far greater issue that today's world disregards.

But I'll just let this quote speak for itself.

"We don't have a crime problem, a gun problem or even a violence problem. What we have is a sin problem," "And since we've ordered God out of our schools, and communities, the military and public conversations, you know we really shouldn't act so surprised ... when all hell breaks loose."Gov Mike Huckabee

Sin.  That thing no one really wants to talk about anymore.  Really, in this 'new world' there is no such thing, only 'alternative' ways of doing and looking at and reacting to things.  Now no one (in their right mind) would say that this was the right way to go about things, but let's think about it.

Gov. Huckabee is right.  We don't preach or teach God and His laws anymore.  People 'don't need that crutch', that 'fairytale', and if they do, well, there are many ways to 'god'.  Little g on purpose,
b/c that's not MY God.  The true God.

Children are taught that any way is okay, there is no real truth, just to be a good person.  But they're not.  Becoming good people.  They're lost, and it's getting worse.  Until parents and people stand up and get back to God's truth the path will only lead to deeper darkness, sin and pain.

What is God's law?  Who can know?  It's all so difficult to comprehend.
Really?  Seems simple to me.  "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind....Love your neighbor as yourself...... All the law and teachings of the prophets hang on these two commandments."  Matt 22:37-40   And John 14:6  "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

And that's it. Faith in Christ as savior, love God with everything you are, and love your neighbor AS YOURSELF.   If we love others as ourselves, we won't steal, kill, lust, covet, ect.  It covers everything.  So simple it's perfect.  So Why can't we get it right, and what are we going to do about it???

There's an answer for that, too.  Chron 7:14  "Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land."

Pray, seek His face, turn from wicked ways.  If. If. If.
Our God does not lie, does not break promises.  He's in the miracle business, and He can do it.  Heal
our land, forgive our sins.  Restore our rightousness.  If. If. If.

It starts with us, who bear His name.  It starts at home, but it doesn't stop there.  From spouses and children to people in the world.  Family and friends and strangers and enemies.  Gives 'takin' it to the street' a whole new  meaning, and it should.

Will we turn this around, so far as we are called to do?  Will we repent of our part in this mess and let Him usher in the healing we so desperately need?  I know what I'm going to do. Won't you join me?
