Happy ( Belated) New Year!

Things are good with our family at the start of 2017.

Christmas things are put away, and we're in that 'in-between' stage where there's no holidays for another month, so no real 'theme' to decorate with or inspire us.

Of course, inspiration comes from life itself, and not any man made holiday. And God certainly gives us plenty to rejoice over every day. Here's a few of mine:

  • Dh is still healthy and working. He did have a couple days in hospital last December, for what they're really not certain. Stomach issues, is all we can say.
  • We are saving money after depleting our savings last year, woohoo!
  • Have paid the credit card almost halfway down. Winner!
  • We have a plan to continue the savings on a weekly basis, with acquiring a second car as our goal later this year.
Homeschool continues on apace. Slightly behind, as the boy and I have our days and nights turned around. The pitfalls of working around dh's shiftwork!

Drake has gone 'hunting' with his daddy a couple times. Our back yard, down near the pond, is host to numerous does and a few bucks, per our game camera. Alas, none for the freezer this year. The neighbor's dog may have had something to do with that (to Dh's temper).

Signed the boy up for Baseball. It is the first of three sports he plays during the year, although we intend to add swimming lessons this summer, after a scare last year. And, it's just time.

I am addicted to tablesetting! Not really the all out, fancy dishes and glasses setups, I don't have but a couple sets of dishes, and one of them isn't enough for our large table. Just a pretty cloth (I now have 7, and want a yellow one to round out the group), with cute placemats (too many sets to count...12?) and contrasting napkins in various colors. Add a centerpiece and done. A good, everyday table that is cute and fun to 'play with'.   Must stay away from Ebay, however....lol. See 'saving money' above. :D

Hope things are going well for all of you!

  1. Hello Tammy,

I'm new here, but have enjoyed reading...especially your blessings. What a blessing it is to read about how you've set goals and are reaching them...and rejoice! That isn't always the mindset of young families today, so when I do come across a couple who is I have to take time to give some praise. :)

I love doing a nice table setting, as well. I am down to two sets of dishes now and change them out now and again, but I think that it makes the kitchen more "homey" feeling to have a nice tablecloth, and place mats. I'm working on a center piece routine, still.

I've enjoyed my visit here. It is nice to have met you.

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting, Diana!
I wouldn't say we're a young couple, being in our 40's, but rather a 'seasoned' couple? lol Married 18 years, happily. Come again, girl!

    1. Yeah, it was a lazy Christmas season. I have pics ready to download, but just keep putting it off, lol. Someone needs to come light a fire under me! Good to hear from you, sweetie!

  3. Hi Tammy, thanks for your visit. We only use our dining room when we have dinner guests. So, I decided to keep that table set all the time as it is the first thing you see when you enter our home. I change it for the seasons. We eat at our breakfast room table (it is just my hubby and I). Have a great week and happy new year to you too!!!!
