Is there such a thing, when it comes to loving and being devoted to God?
Here's an excerpt from www.munahscupcake.com :
"I was mocked and written back harshly, but not before being called an “extremist Christian”. That is when I knew I had done the will God had set for me. I mean, come on? Wouldn’t you want to be called that? I think so! It might as well have been worded, “You follow the Bible too much” or “You love Jesus way too much.” That “insult” was like God saying, “Thank you for being obedient Jacie."
Aren't we told to rejoice when we are persecuted for His sake? Matthew 5:11
But how many times do we avoid the things that bring ridicule, pain and persecution?
We would far rather choose the easy path, the way of no conflict. But this can also be the way of silently rejecting our Savior and His Word. Make no mistake, there are times we should be careful of our words, waiting til a proper/better time to engage the nonbeliever.
But when avoiding the issue becomes a habit, it's also become a problem. Are we afraid of conflict? Or not well versed in our faith and the Word? Or do we just not really care? I'll be posting in the next week or so about our church's new theme for 2013, and it ties into this question, Too Much?
Stay tuned!

I think this is a great post! There is no such thing as loving the Lord too much. I think when people, especially Christians accuse some of being an "extreme Christian" they are in reality being convicted but they refuse to acknowledge it. They feel slightly threatened and so they react with hostility towards the Christian who wants to totally devote their lives to the Lord and obey scripture.
ReplyDeleteVery well said, Regina!
ReplyDeleteI think they're threatened too, and lash out.
In this world of 'if it feels good, do it', the idea of self-sacrifice and deliberate suffering is completely foreign.
